For owners of small therapy practices

Your practice is worth more than you think. Let's find out what it's really telling you.

Whether you're tired and wondering about the exit, or ready to finally make this thing profitable — it starts with an honest look. From one practice owner to another.

What we look at

Every angle of your practice. Not just the one that's keeping you up at night.

The free Practice Assessment looks at seven areas and shows you where money is leaking — and what your practice could earn.

Revenue model & payer mix

Insurance, private pay, or both — and whether your rates and reimbursements actually cover the work.

Demand & marketing

Google reviews, local SEO, your website, ads, and referrals. Can the right people find you?

Intake & admin

What happens between the first call and the first session — and how many people slip away in between.

Location & rent

Whether your space is working for you or quietly eating your margin.

People & caseloads

Clinician fit, open hours, pay structure, and the stuff that leads to burnout or turnover.

Financials

Where the money comes in, where it goes, and what the practice could realistically earn.

Risk & compliance

Documentation, policies, and the loose ends that matter a lot more when you sell or scale.

Path one · Sell or step back

You built something that matters. Let's not let it just fade out.

Here's what nobody tells you: a lot of small practices close quietly, and the owner never gets anything for years of work. It doesn't have to go that way — even if your practice feels too small to sell.

A confidential conversation

No listings, no announcements, no pressure. We talk honestly about where you are and what you want — before anyone else knows.

What happens to your clients and clinicians

This is usually the part owners worry about most. We plan for continuity of care and for the people who work with you, not just the numbers.

Options, not a single exit door

From a full sale to a gradual transition where you step back over time. I may acquire the practice myself, or help you find the right way out.

Path two · Fix and grow

You're busy. So why doesn't the money match?

The truth is, most practices don't have a big problem. They have five small leaks nobody's had time to look at. We find them, put a number on them, and fix the ones worth fixing.

01

Intake conversion

How many inquiries actually become first sessions?

02

Empty caseload hours

Open slots you're paying for but not filling.

03

No-shows

Policies, reminders, and the revenue walking out the door.

04

Owner admin time

Hours you spend on tasks someone else should do.

05

Marketing spend

What's bringing in clients — and what's just costing money.

How it works

Three steps. No commitment until step three.

  1. 1

    Take the free assessment

Answer questions about your practice on your own time. It looks at all seven areas.

  2. 2

Book a free 30-minute Results Review

We get on a call and walk through what it found — the leaks, the strengths, the real picture.

  3. 3

    Choose a path

Consult, sell, or neither. Sometimes the right answer is “you're doing fine,” and that's a good answer too.

A fresh look, without the pressure

What's your practice telling you?

You're juggling a lot. Let's start with what's actually happening in your practice — not what you think you ought to have figured out by now.

Your practice details

General business details only. Don't include client names, health information, staff names, or identifying details.

Your details are sent to AI Gateway and its model provider to create this review. Your name and email aren't sent to the model. This is an AI snapshot, not Laurie's personal review or the full assessment; it can miss things. Don't rely on it for legal, tax, clinical, or financial decisions.

Your practice snapshot

You don't need perfect numbers to start.

What's been on your mind lately? Even a rough picture gives us somewhere honest to begin.

No pressure, no contract

Ways to work together

Start wherever makes sense. You can stop after any of these — plenty of owners do.

Results Review

Free, 30 minutes

After you finish the assessment, we walk through your results together. No pitch. You leave knowing your biggest leaks and your options.

Available after you complete the assessment. Limited spots each month.

Practice Fix Plan

$2,500

A deeper review of your numbers and a written 90-day plan to fix the top leaks. One flat fee, no ongoing contract.

Exit Conversation

Free and confidential

Thinking about closing, retiring, or selling? Let's talk through your options, including whether I might take over the practice.

About Laurie

Laurie Groh, MS, LPC, SAS

I'm a licensed professional counselor, and I've owned and run Shoreside Therapies — a multi-location, private-pay mental health practice in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area — since 2004.

For more than 15 years I've also given professional trainings to employees, managers, executives, HR teams, and schools.

So I know both sides: the clinical work you love, and the business side nobody trained us for. This isn't a pitch from someone outside the field. It's one clinician talking to another about how to keep the thing you built healthy — or let it go well.

FAQ

Fair questions.

Is this confidential?

Your conversations with me are confidential. Nobody — your staff, your clients, other practices — hears about it from me. The optional AI snapshot sends your business details to AI Gateway and its model provider to generate your review, so leave out client and identifying information.

Do I need to be ready to sell?

Not even a little. Plenty of owners just want to understand their options before life makes the decision for them. Thinking about it isn't committing to it.

Is the Results Review a sales call?

No. We look at your results together and you decide what, if anything, comes next. Plenty of owners just take the findings and run with them.

What does consulting cost?

The assessment and Results Review are free. If you want help fixing what we find, the Practice Fix Plan is one flat fee of $2,500 - no hourly billing, no ongoing contract. Exit conversations are always free.

Do you work with insurance-based practices?

Yes. I work with insurance-based practices, private-pay practices, and everyone in the messy middle doing both.

Contact

Rather just talk first?

Totally fine. Send a note about where you are and what you're weighing. No pressure, no pitch — just a conversation.

Or skip ahead:

Confidential. I'll only use this to reply to you.
